Shannon joined Waves in October of 2014. She has over 20 years of experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In this time, she has implemented Direct Support Professionals Coaches and Leaders Mentoring, organizational change through person-centered practices and a variety of programs for people with disabilities including Medical Residential Services, Nursing Services and Home and Community Based Services for the elderly and disabled. Shannon has participated and led collaborations that have developed programs for adults with disabilities which including Vanderbilt School of Nursing Community Nurse Practitioner Internship Program and the University of Tennessee Extension Health and Wellness Initiative.
She received her Master of Science degree in Educational Psychology from Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville. She has served on the State of Tennessee Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Legislative Task Force; 2010 Leadership Wilson; Children, Youth and Families at Risk Coalition; Wilson County Schools and Lebanon Special School District Pre-K Council; and the Wilson County Parents as Teachers Board.
In her free time, Shannon enjoys swimming, boating, sewing, cooking, and gardening.
